Franklin City committee sets Arbor Day event for April 26 at Urban Park

The Franklin City Tree Advisory Committee confirmed plans to hold an Arbor Day event at the Urban Park on Saturday, April 26, at 10 a.m., and discussed logistics for a booth, promotion and volunteer support.

Committee members said the event will include a tree planting and outreach table. The committee discussed locating a booth near vendor parking on Jefferson to increase visibility, and members asked staff and volunteers to work on promotion and social-media posts. A committee member made a flyer and said it had already been posted on social channels; members asked committee followers to share the post to boost attendance.

Members reported attempts to coordinate advertising with Discover Downtown but said they had not yet received a response from that organization and will continue outreach. The committee discussed inviting local youth groups; a member volunteered to try to contact a Girl Scouts troop for participation.

Chip Orner was named by the committee to lead aspects of event preparation. Members agreed to plant a tree at the event and to pursue broader outreach to improve turnout compared with past years.
