Architect Katie Sutherland told board members she expects to provide a schedule and a proposed budget “by the end of this week or the beginning of next week,” and she said she was targeting a late-summer to early-fall construction cycle unless the board asks to expedite it.
Board members discussed procurement timing and expressed concern about tariffs on imported materials. One member said contractors have warned that tariffs could raise costs “10 or 15 percent” and that a potential 250 percent tariff on some products would be “a whole different ballgame.” Members said they hope to move faster if possible to avoid anticipated tariff increases.
The board directed staff to coordinate with Fieldstone (land-use consultants previously engaged for site work) to produce drainage plans and engineering components needed for bidding.
No formal action was taken on the project at this meeting; the board asked staff and consultants to return with schedules, budgets and engineering plans for future approval.
