Eagle Scout candidate seeks school committee support for 3D-printer and maker fair at Pembroke Community Center

James Connor, an Eagle Scout candidate with Troop 105, told the Pembroke School Committee he plans to install a 3D printer at the Pembroke Community Center and run a maker fair offering STEM activities for students and families.

Connor described the project as an outreach program at the Pembroke Community Center that would include a permanent 3D printer installation and a maker fair with hands-on activities such as paper moon-lander builds and STEM trivia. "We're going to set up a 3 d printer at the Pembroke Community Center for the, PCC," Connor said, adding the maker fair will include demonstrations and advice for students and parents about STEM career paths.

Connor asked the committee to help him connect with teachers for curricular or advisory support and requested permission to post flyers at school facilities. He said the flyer includes a QR code linking to a project website and a donation page.

Committee members offered practical support. A committee member said staff could distribute the flyer via the district broadcast email if Connor sent it electronically; other members offered to share the information on social media. One committee member pledged $100 on the spot and indicated another committee member would provide an additional $100, for a total of $200 toward the project. Connor said donations can be made through the QR code on his flyer.

The committee did not take a formal vote; members granted verbal permission to move forward and discussed next steps for communications and school contacts.
