The Union County Public Schools Policy Committee voted March 19 to send four district policies to the full school board for consideration at the April meeting.
The policies moved together were 3-02 (certified employees: contracts, dismissal and nonrenewal/resignation), 3-02D (classified personnel: suspension and dismissal), 3-10 (employee grievance procedure) and 6-03 (visitors to schools). Committee members voted by voice to forward the policies after staff said each had been reviewed in February by the committee and in March by the full board with no stakeholder input since those reviews.
The committee chair asked for a single motion to take the four policies to the board’s April meeting; the motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with committee members responding “aye.” The policies were presented by district staff as part of the regular review cycle of the policy manual; staff advised there had been no new stakeholder input since prior reviews.
The committee did not record substantive debate or amendment to any of the four policies during the meeting. Staff recommended each policy be scheduled for final approval by the board at its April meeting.
The committee also approved the meeting agenda and the previous open-session minutes by voice votes early in the session.
The committee’s next meeting was announced for April at 8 a.m.
