Camarillo Planning Commission members on March 18 continued the public hearing on the city’s updated General Plan safety element to the first meeting in May after a 90-minute presentation and an extended round of commissioner questions.
The continuation followed a presentation from consultant Lexi Journee of Rincon Consultants and city staff that summarized local wildfire-hazard mapping, a climate-vulnerability assessment and an evacuation-capacity study. The commission asked staff and consultants to add clearer policy language and implementation steps on coordination with medical providers, identification of medically vulnerable populations, mutual-aid/donations protocols, cooling centers and backup power at emergency facilities.
