Hudson council approves consent agenda, four appointments and routine items; minutes accepted 6-0

The Hudson City Council on Jan. 21 approved routine minutes, a multi-item consent agenda and four appointments to city boards and commissions.

The council approved the Jan. 7, 2025 council meeting minutes and Jan. 14, 2025 workshop minutes by a 6-0 roll-call vote. The consent agenda — which included professional services and construction-authorizing resolutions for multiple drainage, culvert and stormwater projects, an application to the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District community cost-share program, a Division of State Fire Marshal training reimbursement grant application and an amendment to a job creation grant program guideline (items 25-009 through 25-011) — was suspended for passage and then approved by a 6-0 vote.

Appointments voted on at the meeting included:

- Chelsea McCoy to the Planning Commission (full term): approved 5-1 (Mrs. Kowalski voted no; five members voted yes).

- Corey Scott to the BZBA (Board of Zoning and Building Appeals), full four-year term: approved 6-0.

- Amy Manko to the Architectural and Historic Board of Review (partial term through 06/20/2025): approved 6-0.

- Christine Winters to the Cemetery Board (full four-year term): approved 6-0.

Council President Foster nominated the candidates; nominations were seconded and votes recorded by Mrs. Wheeler at the lectern. The council also announced there remains a partial-term vacancy on the Planning Commission (term through 01/01/2027) and that additional interviews for boards and commissions will be conducted in February.

Other procedural votes included suspension of rules to pass the consent agenda (6-0) and approval of the consent agenda on a 6-0 vote. No individual contract award amounts or lowest-bidder names were read into the record during the consent action; specific project contracts were listed by resolution number and project title and will proceed to bid or contract award as stated.
