Homeowners association seeks stop-sign relocation at 3 Ponds; Planning Board to forward comment to Select Board

A representative of the 3 Ponds homeowners association asked the Planning Board on March 18 to relocate a stop sign within the 3 Ponds development to a different corner to improve traffic flow and reduce repeated stop–start noise that affects adjacent houses.
Planning staff reported having solicited comments from the fire chief, police and public works (DPW); the fire chief said he was “surprised that stop sign’s even there” and did not object, and DPW offered no objection. The board discussed converting the existing stop sign location to a yellow “hard left” warning sign and moving the stop sign to the corner the HOA proposed. Board members noted the town does not yet own the back portion of the road in question and that stop-sign placement and road acceptance have separate processes.
Members observed the request falls primarily to Select Board and public-safety review rather than routine planning-board work after subdivision approval. The board indicated no objection to staff drafting a comment letter for the Select Board, and the representative said he would expect the matter to be reviewed further by the Select Board.
Separately, the board confirmed a site walk for a road-acceptance review on April 5 at 9 a.m. (clubhouse) to inspect a completed phase of roadway before making a recommendation to the Select Board on acceptance.
