West Chester Township trustees on Feb. 11 authorized advertisement for bids on the USS Cincinnati Memorial paving project (CIP 1991). The work will construct a parking lot linking the BOA Museum property with Metro Parks land at Crosley Boulevard and Pepper Pike and will extend Pepper Pike to provide right‑in/right‑out access at Tylersville Road.
Staff told the board the township applied for and received a $1,000,000 capital grant for the project and budgeted $1,400,000 in the CIP. The engineers’ estimate came in at approximately $1,300,000. Administration said the project will be a joint effort with Metro Parks; the township will manage the project and the funds will be allocated between the township and Metro Parks (staff estimated the township share at roughly $300,000 and Metro Parks’ share at about $1,000,000 of the total, with further adjustments described in a forthcoming interagency agreement).
Per Ohio Revised Code bidding requirements, sealed bids will be collected at the Township Administration Building and opened on or about March 11, 2025; the administration anticipates bringing a recommendation back to trustees around March 25, 2025. Trustees discussed whether a traffic signal might be added in the future; staff said the Butler County Engineer’s Office controls the county road and would need to partner on any signal funding or installation.
The motion to advertise the project passed by roll call. Staff said further agreements with Metro Parks will describe fund allocation and project management responsibilities.
