Director Boyer of Parks and Recreation, joined by Director Bradley of Public Works, told the committee the arena is heavily used — hosting 28 home games for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and operating about 122 hours per week — and that existing surveillance provides minimal coverage of the main entry and locker-hallway only. Boyer said cameras would increase staff ability to monitor activity in real time, reduce response time to emergencies and provide recordings for investigation of incidents.
