Board approves $15,748 purchase of bleachers for Anderson High tennis courts

The Southgate Community School District Board of Education voted March 28, 2025, to purchase a five-row GTG aluminum bleacher system, including mid aisle and guardrail, for Anderson High School's tennis courts at a cost not to exceed $15,748.
District facilities staff told the board the district repurposed an existing set of visitor baseball bleachers for one pad and is recommending the purchase of an identical larger set for the second pad adjacent to the new parking lot. Smaller bleacher sets will be placed on the side of the courts nearer the school where tree canopy limits height. The proposed bleachers are ADA accessible and will allow wheelchair seating next to family seating.
A facilities staff member said the quote from Global Industrial, which the facilities team recommends, includes shipping and a five-year warranty. "These are all ADA accessible bleachers, for wheelchair accessibility. So, they can sit next to and then the family can sit with them, and it's right off the parking lot then," the staff member said. The vendor indicates a 14-business-day ship time after ordering; the district will assemble the units on arrival.
Board members noted the large price difference between vendor quotes and praised the district for completing assembly and installation work in-house when feasible to save costs. The motion to approve the purchase not to exceed $15,748 passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
Facilities staff will place the order and schedule delivery and assembly; no installation date was specified in the meeting record.
