Commission hears site-visit reports from local grantees as opioid and match-assistance grant rounds open

The Fairbanks North Star Borough Health and Social Services Commission received a series of site-visit reports March 5 from commissioners who visited local nonprofits that receive borough matching or state-administered grant funds, and staff said new rounds of the opioid remediation and match assistance grants are open and will generate applications for the April meeting.
Commissioners summarized program status, capacity constraints and funding risks for providers that serve people with behavioral-health needs, older adults and children. Health and Social Services Administrator James Minneker told the commission the Opioid Remediation Grant (ORG) and the Match Assistance Grant (MAG) awards from previous rounds have been processed and publicity has followed; round 2 of the opioid grant and round 3 of the MAG opened “within the last week” and staff will begin receiving applications in time for the commission’s April meeting.
