New county auditor reports on property-tax evaluation and upcoming Lisbon school election

Auditor Todd Taylor told the Linn County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 7 that the county's property-tax evaluation report was completed on Jan. 2 and filed on time, showing overall taxable growth of 4.27 percent.
Taylor said internal payroll documents (W-2s) will be available electronically this week and paper copies mailed by the statutory deadline of Jan. 31. He also said 1099 filings were in process and will be mailed on schedule.
On elections, Taylor noted a March 4 election for the Lisbon School District that will include a physical-plant-and-equipment levy; the county will canvass returns in March following the vote.
Taylor said he is newly back in the office after succeeding the prior long-serving auditor, and he described rehiring and coordinating staff as an immediate priority.
