Linn County to sign annual Community Rating System recertification, preserving 15% NFIP discount

Lehi said a Class 7 ranking translates into a 15% premium discount for county residents who hold federal flood insurance policies. She told the board that, as of 2021, there were 105 open policies in the county receiving the discount. Lehi also noted that the county completed a more intensive five‑year recertification in 2023; the Jan. 21 item was the routine annual recertification that requires the chair’s signature.
Lehi asked the board to permit the chair to sign the recertification on Wednesday; the chair indicated consent for the signature. No detailed vote was recorded at the Jan. 21 session. The recertification is part of an ongoing effort to document local activities that reduce flood risk and maintain the county’s CRS class.
