Linn County staff to place Whitworth Trust Fund grant recommendations on upcoming agenda; $80,000 available for FY2025

Jesse Black, administrative specialist for the Linn County Board of Supervisors, presented recommended allocations from the Weaver Whitworth trust fund during the Feb. 17 meeting, saying $80,000 is available for fiscal year 2025.
Black explained the recommendation sheet is organized by number of votes from supervisors and includes an adjusted-average column used to get closer to the $80,000 total. He told the board that all three supervisors had voted to recommend a $50,000 award to the Catherine Nicole Lee Center given its circumstances, with the remaining roughly $30,000 divided among other applicants on the list. "So these are not taxpayer dollars. This is this is a separate trust fund. Dollars 80,000 is available," Black said.
Black asked supervisors to review and said he would place the item on Wednesday’s consent agenda unless the board preferred it appear on the regular agenda; supervisors directed staff to proceed with placement on the upcoming agenda. One supervisor clarified it could go on the regular agenda if preferred.
No final disbursement or formal approval of awards occurred on Feb. 17; Black will submit the recommended allocation list for formal action at the next board meeting or consent process.
