At the work session Peachtree City staff briefed council on three administrative items: the EMS billing contract auto-renewal, the human-resources benefits-broker recommendation, and routine election scheduling items.
EMS billing: Chief Murphy said the city's EMS-billing vendor has met performance expectations and the current contract permits automatic renewal. Murphy said the vendor collects between about $800,000 and $1,000,000 annually for the city depending on billable volume. "They have far exceeded all the others. So that's the reason we're going to auto renew," the chief said. Council was informed no RFP will be issued immediately; staff will bring the matter back if circumstances change.
Benefits broker: Human Resources staff reported an RFP was issued on Nov. 5 and two proposals were received. An evaluation committee (finance, administrative services, HR staff) scored NFP Corporate Services as the top proposer based on cost and public-sector experience; NFP was recommended to serve as the city's benefits broker. The city's prior broker, McGriff, declined to submit a proposal and their contract ended on Dec. 31.
Election calendar: City staff confirmed qualifying dates for the 2025 municipal election as Aug. 18-20 and the voter-registration deadline as Oct. 6, based on the Secretary of State calendar. Staff noted that any change to mayor/council salaries would require hearings and would not affect the immediate qualifying fee memo for the coming election.
No formal council actions were required on these items at the work session; staff will follow the procurement and election timelines as described.
