Peachtree City council hears TAG and ADA concerns, names inaugural recreation advisory group and approves routine items

Keith Larson, who identified himself as living in Sandown Creek and as "President," told the council the Transportation Advisory Group (TAG) is finalizing recommendations this month for a multi-use path system master plan update and that those recommendations will incorporate the Recreation Master Plan, recent annexations and longstanding community requests.
"We think you will be satisfied with that product when the city staff brings it forward to you for your review, hopefully in March. Maybe April," Larson said. He told the council that the Recreation Master Plan and TAG work together and urged the council to address pedestrian connectivity to state highways.
Larson said the initial city ADA transition plan published in 2024 addressed roughly one-third of the city's accessibility shortfalls and urged broader attention to accessible routes and parking. He said there are presently 15 intersections where sidewalk connections are missing between neighborhood paths and GDOT-provided pedestrian crossings and said that gap makes routes inaccessible to people with disabilities.
Under council business, the mayor announced the inaugural Recreation Advisory Group and named members Michael Palachek, Michael Pappas, Tommy Johnson, Rohit Nanda, Erin McDowell, Derek White and Stacy Clark. The mayor asked the members present to stand in the room as the council recognized them.
During a council staff update, council members said items discussed at the council retreat include a State Road 54 corridor study (potential engineering study from Fayetteville to Coweta County), potential updates to the city's roller-hockey facility, and options for the Kedron Pool including a fiberglass enclosure proposed as a longer-lasting alternative to seasonal inflatable "bubbles."
Procedural business included a request to amend the January 16 minutes (a correction to a single word requested by a councilmember), approval of the amended minutes, and approval of consent agenda items A through H. The council then recessed into executive session "for the purposes of real estate." All three procedural motions were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the public minutes.
No formal votes on capital projects, contract awards or ADA consulting agreements were recorded on the public portion of the agenda during the session recorded in the transcript.
