Peachtree City staff presented two proposed amendments to the fiscal year 2025 budget during the Oct. 12 work session: a reallocation into building maintenance and an increase in the water-testing budget for Kedron Pool.
Staff said the building-maintenance amendment moves $150,000 from a nondivisional line into the facilities maintenance division; the funds are already budgeted and the change is an internal reallocation rather than a draw on reserves. “The hundred and fifty thousand is already budgeted. We're not pulling from reserves. We're just moving from nondivisional to a division, which is our building maintenance department,” a finance staff member said.
The second amendment would increase the budget by $18,500 from fund balance to cover increased water testing at Kedron Pool and a change in the testing firm. Staff said the city is switching contractors for testing, citing prior testing errors by the previous firm. “We are gonna do more testing at Kedron, and we are switching companies as well, for our testing of the water there,” the staff member said.
Because the meeting was a work session without a quorum, no ordinance or formal amendment vote occurred at the session; staff said they will present the formal budget amendments for council consideration at a future meeting.
