Peachtree City staff presented a request Oct. 12 to reclassify the logistics coordinator position to a firefighter classification to reflect the current incumbent’s background and duties.
Staff explained the position was previously a civilian classification (100) but that the city hired a former firefighter with experience that enhances procurement and inventory work for station supplies and medical equipment. “Specifically, when he goes into medical equipment, stuff like that, he's able to talk a common language, and we feel like putting it into that classification where they actually have that knowledge base, we've gained a lot more from that position,” a fire department staff member said. The staff member identified the employee by name as Kevin Baggett.
Staff said the reclassification would better match duties and training and was presented for council consideration. No formal action occurred at the work session because the council did not have a quorum.
