City staff told the council Oct. 12 that capital-improvement funds will cover planned fleet and equipment replacements, including an F-350 dump truck and two Kubota RTV units.
The F-350 dump truck was authorized in a previous blanket vehicle approval but came in about $2,600 over the budget after state contract pricing and dump-bed costs were finalized, a fleet staff member said. Because the purchase is over budget, staff said they will bring the item to the council consent agenda at the next regular meeting; funds are available in the capital equipment CIP due to savings on other vehicle purchases.
By contrast, the two Kubota RTV replacements were budgeted at $51,200 and are expected to come in under budget by about $5,771 for both units. Staff said the RTVs are categorized as equipment rather than vehicles and therefore come to council for review.
Staff emphasized funds exist in the CIP for both items and said prior savings on other vehicle purchases produced the available balance. No formal action was taken at the work session because the council lacked a quorum.
