Peachtree City staff presented proposed revisions to the city’s personnel policies Oct. 12 that would formalize an electronic performance-management process and clarify eligibility for merit pay.
The proposed changes would require all full-time and part-time employees to receive a formal written performance evaluation at least once per year, conducted on a calendar-year cycle beginning Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, a city staff member said. The proposal ties merit-pay eligibility to both the annual authorization of merit increases by the mayor and council and to employee tenure: employees must have 12 months of continuous employment to be eligible, and those serving a probationary period would not be eligible for merit increases.
Staff said the city has adopted a new electronic performance-management system and the policy update is intended to align written rules with the system and evaluation practice. The proposed effective timing and merit criteria were presented for council input; no vote occurred at the work session because there was not a quorum present.
