The Johnson County Board of Supervisors approved its meeting agenda Thursday morning and directed staff to place an amendment on a future agenda to designate the county's annual floating holiday as Christmas Eve.
The board, meeting in a work session, established a quorum and approved the agenda by roll call after a motion and second. No members of the public offered comment during the public comment period.
Supervisors discussed state and federal legislative issues, including updates on the Urban County Coalition and pending legislation affecting Johnson County, and confirmed plans for representation of county positions. Staff said there is no Urban County Coalition call tomorrow but that one is anticipated next Friday.
On an operational matter, Supervisor Sullivan said she had received an email from Lynette Jacoby proposing the floating holiday be observed on Christmas Eve rather than on the 26th. Supervisors agreed by consensus to have staff place a formal amendment to the county's organizational items on the agenda for the next Thursday meeting so the board can act on the change.
Board members also addressed department head liaisons. Supervisors agreed that Mandy will assume liaison responsibilities previously held by Royceann, and directed Erin (county staff) to ask Jill (county staff) to update the liaison list so Mandy is listed in every place Royceann currently appears.
The meeting closed with a reminder that the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Supervisors was announced as a Jan. 6 budget work session at 9 a.m., and the board adjourned.
Notes: The transcript records the board's directions and approvals but contains limited roll-call detail; the agenda approval was recorded as approved by roll call with all members voting in the affirmative in the meeting record.
