Johnson County announces new HR office assistant after 100+ applicants

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors heard a brief personnel announcement Jan. 8 introducing Abby Krier as the county’s new human resources office assistant.
Betsy, the county employment manager, told the board the HR office received “over a hundred applicants” for the November recruitment and that county staff conducted numerous interviews before hiring Krier. Krier said she graduated Dec. 13 from Kirkwood Community College with an associate degree in liberal arts and a transfer interest in psychology and began the position the following Monday.
“We received over a hundred applicants,” Betsy said. Krier introduced herself: “My name’s Abby. December 13, I just graduated from Kirkwood, put my 2 years in, and got my degree in liberal arts with a transfer interest in psychology. Then the following Monday, I started at this job, and I’m very grateful to be here to meet you guys.”
The remarks were made during the meeting’s public comment/business-from-the-public section. No formal action or vote was taken during the announcement.
