Auburn council approves $315,000 culvert design contract and agrees to $500,000 county funding for roundabout

The Auburn City Council on March 18 approved two infrastructure resolutions: a professional services agreement for design work on an East University Drive culvert replacement and an intergovernmental funding agreement with Lee County for a joint roundabout project.
The council authorized the city manager to execute a professional services agreement with Barge Design Solutions Inc. for design, bidding and construction‑phase services for the East University Drive culvert replacement at Summer Trees Drive in the amount of $315,000, and approved an additional 10% contingency of $31,500 for unforeseen circumstances.
The council also approved an agreement with Lee County that provides $500,000 toward construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Society Hill Road and Moores Mill Road; the project contribution was included in the FY2025 capital improvement plan and the county had already approved the agreement at its Feb. 24, 2025 meeting.
Both resolutions passed on motions from the council with voice votes recorded as "the motion carries" in the meeting minutes. Council members noted the roundabout contribution was the city's share and that the total project cost would be higher.
