Fire district reports 1,081 calls in quarter; Lake Elsinore fuel-break work under way and LA support continuing

A Wildomar Fire Department representative reported the department and cooperating stations ran a total of 1,081 calls during the quarter and described ongoing and regional operations, including a locally staged fuel-break project and significant mutual-aid support to Los Angeles County.
The presenter said Station 61’s medic squad ran 369 calls and the engine ran 386 calls into Wildomar City during the period; other nearby stations — Canyon Hills (Station 94), Menifee (Station 68), Rancho California and Station 75 — also ran calls into the city under mutual-aid arrangements. About 80% of calls were medical aids, roughly 6% were traffic collisions and vegetation/wildland fires were low (five incidents recorded for the period).
On vegetation management, the speaker said the Lake Elsinore fuel-break project began work on the Caleb Johnson property and that team BlackRock (a contractor) was working under grant provisions. "We have begun the Lake Elsinore fuel break project," the presenter said, adding crews will treat the Johnson parcels in phases.
The representative also described extended mutual-aid deployments to Los Angeles County, noting the city’s incident management teams have rotated through and that support is expected through April or May. The speaker said the department provided multiple engines and overhead staff and that the team transitioned at the time of the meeting.
On dispatch, the presenter said the fire service implemented a new accredited dispatch program in late December and that initial 30-day analytics show fewer Code 3 responses without hindering public service; staff will present a fuller analytics briefing at a future council meeting.
Councilmembers asked about station resourcing and whether the city is appropriately sized for current call volume; the presenter noted stations typically consider an additional facility once calls reach roughly 4,000 per station per year and said Wildomar’s current resources appeared adequate. No formal action was taken on the report.
