The Miami Beach Board of Adjustment on July 7 handled routine procedural items, approved minutes from the June 2 meeting, granted two requests for continuance and reminded the public of an open board vacancy.
The board approved the June 2 meeting minutes on a motion by Mr. Silvers, seconded by Mr. Aronson; the vote was recorded as aye with no opposition. Two agenda items were continued to the Board’s September 8 meeting at the applicant’s request because the board was short a member today. The items continued were: ZBA22‑0143 (125–153 Collins Avenue), and ZBA23‑0147 (625 West 40 Second Street). Both continuance motions were moved by Mr. Aronson and seconded by Mr. Silvers and were approved unanimously.
Chair Mr. Goldberg reminded viewers and applicants that the Board currently has one opening for a CPA‑designated seat (the position must be filled by someone who meets the board’s statutory/charter criteria) and encouraged referrals. Staff also said the commission chambers will be under renovation beginning in September and that the Board will meet at the convention center for the Sept. 8 meeting; staff will circulate logistical details and parking information. Staff previewed the tentative September agenda as including the two continued appeals plus one additional variance application.
The board closed the meeting after a short discussion about communications when continuance notices arrive late; staff agreed to send an email blast when late continuance requests are received.
