LaSalle County officials provided a brief update on implementing recommendations from an outside audit, saying they are working to define the duties of a new position and determining whether that role should be a finance director.
The matter was raised after the board came out of an executive session and a board member asked for an update on the outside audit recommendations. A staff member said, “Nothing further. We’re currently working on definition of duties and trying to figure out where that position will come, whether it’s a finance director or otherwise.” Melissa, who had been expected to report, was not present at the meeting.
The discussion produced no formal motion or vote. The board did not set a timeline in the meeting transcript for finalizing the duties or creating the position, and no funding or ordinance was proposed. The staff comment indicated the county is still at an early, definitional stage.
The update appeared during routine business and was informational; the board moved on to routine monthly requisitions after the exchange. The next scheduled meeting on the transcript is April 17, 2025.
