Erlanger staff announces sidewalk-inspection contractor and low bids for street and bridge projects

Mr. Klin presented the bid results. For the grant-funded sidewalk project, the city received two proposals and has selected Terracon to perform required, state-certified daily inspections once construction begins. Mr. Klin said Terracon will conduct the daily inspections "once that project goes to construction." The competing bidder was Prime AE.
On street work, the council reviewed bids for Kennebu and Virginia avenues. The low bid of $401,485 came from Jefferson Contracting. Klin said that bid "is within budget" and that the company is in good standing with the city; contracts have been signed and the contractor expects to start work when weather allows with a completion date of June 30.
For Narrow Road bridge, engineer-recommended bids produced two offers, and Hinkle Construction submitted the low bid at approximately $1,149,500. Klin said the city engineer recommended Hinkle but that contracts have not yet been signed: "We have not yet signed contracts. We're working out some finances on that and some timing issues" around deconstruction and a restriction tied to the Indiana bat mating season. Klin emphasized that the timetable must account for biological constraints before demolition and reconstruction can proceed.
Klin said he would report more on the Narrow Road project next month. No formal council votes to award contracts were recorded in the Jan. 7 transcript; the presentation summarized bid openings, recommendations, and next steps.
