Paducah commissioners introduce ordinance to clarify Oak Grove Cemetery rules, add grave-opening fees

The City of Paducah Board of Commissioners on March 11 introduced an ordinance to amend Chapter 26 (Cemeteries) of the city code to update language on maintenance, hours of operation and other operational rules for Oak Grove Cemetery.

City staff said the changes are intended to clarify long-standing practices and make the ordinance consistent with the city’s operational procedures. “One thing that we have added is grave fees related to opening and closing for graves,” said Amy, a cemetery staff member. She said the city staffs all burials and needs fees for services other than graveside burials. “We updated language related to late fees for services concluding after 2 p.m. … our staff get off at 3, so we have just changed that to 2 p.m. to allow them time at the end of the day,” Amy added.
