During the March 18 meeting the board considered a first-reading policy draft titled GCEC, covering posting and advertising of professional vacancies. One trustee moved to refer the policy back to the policy committee, saying the draft “still has areas of clarity” and does not yet serve district needs. The motion to refer the policy back carried 6–1.
Trustees discussed whether to vote on the policy at the first reading or allow the policy committee more time for revision. One trustee noted the board could adopt clarifications before a second reading, but the majority preferred sending the draft back to committee for more detailed work.
The board directed the policy committee to revise the policy and return it for first-reading consideration when the committee believes the draft is ready. No specific amendments were recorded in open session.
Ending Policy GCEC will return to the policy committee for revision; the committee will present a revised draft for the board’s subsequent consideration.
