District highlights Boeing summer program and Zeus Technical Academy partnership for student workforce development

Superintendent Williams summarized workforce-development partnerships that the district uses to provide students paid, on-site training and college coursework.
Williams described the Boeing South Carolina Manufacturing Student Development program, which she said allows selected high-school students and recent graduates to work full time (6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), Monday–Friday, between June 13 and July 24 in paid placements including assembly and paint programs and an “alumni assistant” track. She said students apply and are notified if accepted; staff noted that at least one district student who previously participated obtained a full‑time job with Boeing.
Williams also described a partnership with Zeus Technical Academy that offers paid programs in welding and engineering, including in-state college coursework and on-the-job job-shadowing experiences. She said Zeus covers tuition and that 12 students were scheduled to visit the facility at the end of the month or in early April. Williams said students also will attend a South Carolina Works career fair on April 12 at the National Guard Armory.
Williams said the district is exploring additional CTE courses such as law enforcement and fire science and would discuss collaboration with city and county officials. She emphasized that students must apply for paid programs and that details and exact dates will be shared in district communications.
