Court approves county lot as in‑kind match for broadband application

The staff presentation estimated the in-kind valuation would appear on the application as $1,000 per month for 24 months, equaling $24,000, and that the location could connect roughly 1,100 people when lit up.
Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to allow the provider to use the county property as part of the application’s local match. The motion carried.
At the meeting, commissioners also discussed other providers and correspondence; the court declined to take action on a separate Windstream letter request at the same time.
No lease or final contract for the site was adopted at the meeting; the action approved county staff to include the parcel as an in-kind match on the broadband grant application and to proceed with the application process.
