During routine business on March 11 the Whiteland Town Council approved several administrative items including an appropriation transfer within the fire fund and the disposal of seven obsolete computers and related peripherals.
Council authorized the town treasurer to transfer an appropriation from the fire FICA/Medicare line to the fire unemployment appropriation so the town could clear a past liability; staff said the transfer is a like-for-like appropriation reallocation and no net increase in spending is required. The motion to authorize the transfer passed on a roll-call vote.
Council also approved a staff request to dispose of seven older computers (laptops/desktops) and associated keyboards, mice and cords that staff described as "dinosaurs" no longer in use; staff confirmed replacement units are in service for the employees who previously used the old machines.
Both items were routine administrative approvals recorded on the consent agenda.
