Budgets: The board approved revised budgets for the 2024–25 fiscal year for the general operating fund, child nutrition program fund, and multiple sales-tax funds; it also approved an original budget for a disaster fund for FY24–25. Procurement and construction steps: The board approved multiple procurement actions and contract steps recommended by the Building, Food Service and Transportation Committee, including: awarding lowest responsive bids for kitchen equipment to Associated Food Equipment and Supply (Alexandria) for $236,789.68 and Claire Restaurant Supply (New Orleans) for $17,735, funded by the Child Nutrition Program; approval of Change Order No. 2 for Fletcher Building repairs in the amount of $105,830.29 with FEMA funds ($95,247.26) and local funds ($10,583.03) covering the work; issuance of notices to proceed and budgets for design and specifications for the Oak Lawn Middle School Kitchen Repair Project (notice to Costagenus Goodwin Utley Engineers LLC; budget $300,000 from building and child nutrition funds) and for the West Park Annex roof replacement design (design group; budget $325,000 from building fund). The motions carried with no objections recorded.
Other actions: The board authorized advertising for bids for 2025–26 maintenance and repair services and for maintenance supplies and equipment; accepted the audit report (unmodified opinion for FY ending 06/30/2024); and acknowledged personnel items, including approved family and medical leaves for named employees in the personnel section and a period personnel summary for 01/24/2025–02/21/2025.
School calendar: The board ratified the 2025–26 school calendar with the school year beginning for employees Aug. 4, 2025, students starting Aug. 6, 2025, and students’ last day May 25, 2026. The calendar lists holidays and makeup day options as detailed in the district materials; members discussed sharing the calendar with neighboring districts for coordination.
