DRCOG launches yearlong regional housing strategy, seeks board volunteers

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) on March 5 launched a yearlong regional housing strategy work plan and asked board members to volunteer for a new steering committee, DRCOG staff said at a work session.
The strategy will build on a regional housing needs assessment accepted by the board in October 2024 and aims to produce a regionally scaled set of goals, implementation structures and funding options to address affordability, preservation and the transportation–housing connection, staff said.
Sheila Lynch, DRCOG staff leading the initiative, told directors the effort grows from the needs assessment and a series of stakeholder conversations. “We started with a regional housing needs assessment,” she said, describing a process that began in October 2023 and culminated with board acceptance in October 2024.
