Telecommunications committee reports frequency study: Bow Center Tower improves some coverage but gaps remain

Members of the town’s telecommunications committee reported to the Board of Selectmen that a recent frequency study indicates the Bow Center Tower has significantly improved coverage for parts of town but will not, by itself, eliminate all dead zones.
Committee members said Mariner Tower returned with a report concluding the Bow Center Tower provides substantial coverage in targeted areas, particularly along London Hill Road and near the community building and schools. The committee asked neighboring towns to consider their own coverage solutions as well, noting that other municipalities can add towers that improve regional coverage.
One resident, Sandy Crystal of 1 Cherokee Drive, told the board the tower has improved Verizon coverage through key intersections and that she could use Zoom calls while driving through that area. Committee members noted the tower addressed a specific dead spot but that other parts of town still see weak or no coverage. The committee recommended continued coordination with neighboring towns and carriers to address remaining gaps.
No formal action or contract award was taken at the March 18 meeting; the committee’s report was informational.
