Board accepts minority enterprise spending report for July–Dec 2024; six-month total $1.9M

The Dorchester School District 2 board accepted the district’s minority enterprise spending report for July 1–Dec. 31, 2024, after a presentation from procurement staff. The six-month total spending with vendors who designated themselves as minority businesses was $1,900,000, the procurement director reported; the comparable six-month total for the previous year was approximately $2,500,000.
Procurement leader Ms. Meunier told trustees the district’s annual minority-spend goal is $5,000,000 and said upcoming projects present opportunities to expand business with additional certified minority vendors. The report tracks vendors who have self-identified under the district’s procurement code.
Board member Mr. Lee moved to accept the minority enterprise report as presented; the motion was seconded, called for a vote and passed 7-0.
Next steps: Procurement staff said they will pursue outreach and opportunities to meet the district’s annual minority-spend target as referendum and other projects come online.
