Dorchester School District 2 accepts superintendent’s resignation, appoints Chad Doherty as interim

The motion, seconded by Mr. Lee, carried 7-0.
A second motion, made by Mr. Farnsworth and seconded by Mrs. King, named Chad Doherty as interim superintendent, effective March 10, 2025. The motion specified that Doherty will “serve at the pleasure of the Board with all powers conferred to a South Carolina superintendent by state law, State Board of Education regulation and district policy.” The hand vote on that motion also carried 7-0.
In open session after the votes, board members thanked Dr. Robinson for his service and said the priority for the board is a smooth transition to new leadership. Mr. Farnsworth said the board’s focus is “ensuring a smooth and stable transition to new district leadership” and stressed continuity for staff, students and families. Doherty, who joined the board at the dais, told trustees, “we’ll do everything we can to carry out the mission and vision of DD 2.”
The board did not provide additional details about the terms of the resignation agreement beyond saying the agreement had been reviewed in executive session. The motions recorded the effective date of March 10, 2025, and both measures passed unanimously on recorded votes reported in open session.
