The public works committee recommended dropping several alternatives because of cost, including a Bonnie Road/Progress Drive intersection redo and a wider railing option, and moving forward with pedestrian-focused improvements at the Main Street intersection.
"Just due to cost, the only alternative the Public Works Committee decided to go with was alternative 3, which was the pedestrian improvements for Main Street, Wheeled Bridge and Taylor Street," a staff member said. Board members approved the bid award and accompanying budget language; staff said the chosen approach leaves capacity to address larger intersection changes later as part of future planning.
