Board accepts BB Jacks' license surrender, conditionally approves new restaurant license and temporary Lions permit

The Cottage Grove Village Board accepted a letter from BB Jacks relinquishing its non-reserved Class B alcohol license effective March 17 and approved a conditional alcohol license for a proposed restaurant-sports-bar, Mr. Queso LLC, pending plan commission approval of a conditional use permit.
"We received a letter from BBjacks, to relinquish their class b alcohol license, because they are no longer in business and they are going to be leasing the space, to, a new restaurant sports bar that would, take over that license," Lisa said, describing the vacancy and the need to surrender the non-reserved license before it can be reissued.
The board voted to accept BB Jacks' relinquishment and then considered an application for Mr. Queso LLC for the licensing year July 2024–June 2025. Lisa told the board the new business will require a conditional use permit from the plan commission; she asked that any issued license be conditioned on that approval. "So, if you do issue this, please make that condition, that it's based on that approval as well. And it won't be issued until after that time," she said.
The board also approved a temporary Class B beer license for the Cottage Grove Lions Club for April 12 to serve at a Parkinson's half-marathon and 5K event. A board member who also serves with the Lions abstained from that vote.
All three motions carried.
