Van Buren County backs Midwest Energy & Communications for BEAD/BEED broadband funding

County staff said MEC's application would fill remaining unserved pockets not covered by an earlier program (identified in the meeting as the "Robin" program). The board approved the letter of support and emphasized that MEC's application and the letter carry no financial obligation for the county.
A commissioner asked whether the Village of Bloomingdale was participating; staff said Bloomingdale had not approached the county about its own application. County staff also demonstrated to commissioners that the Michigan Legislature website (legislature.mi.gov) can be used to retrieve bill texts and legislative materials, a follow-up item from the earlier discussion about state bills.
The motion passed with unanimous vocal approval and will be forwarded for final inclusion in MEC's application materials.
