Council adopts 2025 Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Master Plan

The City Council voted unanimously on March 1 to adopt the City of Leon Valley 2025 Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Master Plan.
Consultant Ardura and staff said the plan reflects input from a steering committee, public surveys and stakeholder interviews. The document recommends preserving and enhancing natural areas, improving trail and pedestrian connections, upgrading playgrounds to ADA‑accessible standards, evaluating an aquatics study and pursuing targeted funding sources for shovel‑ready projects.
Park Commission Chair Michael Christiansen thanked staff and the consultant for an inclusive process. Councilors complimented the plan’s graphics and appendices; staff noted the plan will support future grant applications because many state and federal grant programs award points to applicants with an adopted parks plan.
Councilor Orozco moved to adopt the plan by resolution; Councilor Campos seconded and the motion passed without dissent.
