During public comments on March 18, resident Jasmine Thompson described a multi‑year dispute with city code enforcement over a shipping container she had placed behind the front face of her house during the COVID period. Thompson said she had called city staff and been told at the time to keep the container behind the front face of the house and was later advised to provide a walkway around it. She said crews subsequently moved a pod into her driveway while she was out of state and that she later received a criminal citation in 2023 from an officer who has since retired.
Thompson said she paid to bring in the container and later completed a city plan at a cost of $7,700; she said legal and enforcement actions have cost her more than $15,000 in lost wages and prevented personal travel because of court dates. She asked the council to note the matter and said she had communicated earlier with the mayor, police supervisors and staff; the mayor and staff offered to meet with her after the hearing to discuss next steps.
Council acknowledged the comment and staff offered post‑meeting follow‑up. No formal council action was taken during the public comment period.
