Board canvasses March 4 Lisbon school levy and Robbins city levy; both measures carried in county tallies

Eric Loescher of Linn County Election Services presented a first-tier canvass of the March 4, 2025 election items affecting Lisbon Community School District and the city of Robbins.

The nut graf: the board visually reviewed precinct results and certified county-level totals for the Lisbon PPEL measure and the Robbins levy question; Lisbon’s measure passed in Linn County, and Robbins voters in Linn County favored changing the levy rate. County-level results will be combined with other counties for school-district certification where applicable.

Election Services reported turnout for the combined contests in Linn County of 856 voters (about 18.42%). For the Lisbon Community School District public measure (physical plant and equipment levy) the county canvass recorded 160 yes votes and 14 no votes in Linn County. For the city of Robbins levy question the county canvass recorded 376 votes to change the levy amount and 261 votes to keep the current levy in Linn County (total 637 ballots cast in Robbins in the county). Election staff noted two absentee ballots arrived after Election Day; one was rejected and one was counted.

The board performed the visual canvas checks of receipts and reports, signed the abstracts and acknowledged that Lynn County (Linn County) will combine Lisbon results with neighboring counties for the school-district certification in the next-tier canvass.

Ending: the clerk’s office will return for the next canvass step and the board adjourned the meeting after public comment closed with no speakers.
