The Linn County Board of Supervisors on March 12 approved third and final consideration of an ordinance rezoning roughly 91 acres at 1017 Laneca Lane, removing a seasonal cabin and recreational area overlay while retaining agricultural zoning.
County planning staff said the overlay removal would allow a proposed private campground on the property. "Just as a reminder, this is a rezoning to remove the seasonal cabin and recreational area overlay for a proposed, private campground to be located on the property," said Brad Island, planning and development staff.
The planning and zoning commission reviewed the proposal on Feb. 17 and received no public comment, Island said, and county staff reported no additional comments between the second reading and the final consideration. "Through the first two readings, we also haven't heard anything," Island said.
Board members asked only whether any new public comment had been received since the last hearing; none had been. A supervisor moved to approve the ordinance and another seconded. The board voted in favor; the motion carried unanimously.
The ordinance changes the land use overlay but does not change the property's base agricultural (AG) zoning, county staff said. Specific conditions or permit terms for the proposed campground were not presented during the hearing and were not specified in the record.
No formal vote tally with member names was recorded in the transcript; the board indicated unanimous approval by voice vote.
