MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. — The Monongalia County Commission on March 19 approved a slate of routine and administrative items including personnel hires, grant reimbursements, the next step in a fleet-management solicitation and a reimbursable payment of up to $3,000 to the West Virginia Black Bears for seat-identification stickers at Monongalia County Ballpark.
The commission approved the consent agenda by voice vote after county administrator Renetta McClure presented vouchers and other routine items. Commissioners then approved two personnel actions: the appointment of James Montag to a full‑time court security officer position effective April 1 with a stated monthly salary of $3,076.38, and the hire of Joseph Dombrowski as a full‑time recycling center worker (replacement hire) with an annual salary the county cited as $33,000.
The commission accepted a single submittal to RFP 2025MCC001 for fleet management — Enterprise Fleet Management — and authorized staff to proceed with the evaluation phase. County procurement staff said the new RFP asked for additional value‑added services beyond the existing lease contract and that the county will verify personnel listed in the proposal.
Colleen Kuhn, grant coordinator and office manager, requested reimbursement approvals for several grants. The commission approved the reimbursements by voice vote. Amounts read into the record included community corrections ($18,595), the community development block grant ($1,792), the Governor’s Highway Safety Program — Safe Communities ($1,126.91), impaired driving funds ($2,947.22), and VOCA funds ($9,166.45). A separate line for a grant described as “Saki Grama Purpose Area 1” was read aloud but the numeric transcription was unclear; the county file contains the exact figure.
The commission also accepted correspondence including an initial request from the City of Westover for donation of a generator previously used at the Catherine’s Knob 911 tower; commissioners agreed to place the item on a future agenda for formal action.
On a separate motion the commission approved reimbursement funding up to $3,000 to the West Virginia Black Bears for seat‑identification stickers at Monongalia County Ballpark. The team and stadium staff will handle installation and will submit receipts for reimbursement; the commission specified the funding will be reimbursable to avoid repeated back‑and‑forth if costs fluctuate.
All votes noted in the meeting record were unanimous with three commissioners present.
