Accessory Apartment Review Board approves 27 renewals, denies one non-owner-occupied application

At a meeting of the Accessory Apartment Review Board in the Town of Babylon, members approved 27 renewals by affidavit and three transfer affidavits, and denied one accessory-apartment application after finding the subject property was not owner-occupied. The board also tabled approval of meeting minutes and set its next meeting for April 8.

The approvals covered a sweep of accessory-apartment renewal affidavits for properties across West Babylon, Lindenhurst, Deer Park, North Babylon, Copiague, Amityville and Babylon. The board handled each renewal as a separate motion, with members calling the roll and voting “Aye” on voice votes. Three applications to transfer accessory-apartment affidavits were approved. On the reserve calendar, the board denied the Paulino application after testimony established the applicant did not reside at the subject property; the board instructed the secretary to notify the applicant to apply for a rental permit instead of an accessory-apartment permit.
