TIFT COUNTY — County EMS staff told the Board of Commissioners they will apply for a Georgia Trauma Commission equipment grant allocated to zone providers and asked the board to approve use of the funds and the local match for a modest equipment purchase.
Mister Fowler (EMS staff) told commissioners the Trauma Commission allocates equipment funds based on licensed services and staffed apparatus. For 2025, the county’s allocation is $7,119.94. Fowler said the department intends to purchase trauma arrest bags, two suction units and advanced airway training equipment.
"This year, our grant, we were allocated $7,119.94," Fowler said. He added the total cost of requested equipment exceeds the grant by $133.49; staff said the county has budgeted the additional amount and that the grant is a reimbursement program.
Fowler also noted the grant is for zone providers only and excludes private ambulance companies. The board had no substantive objections during the presentation; staff indicated they would submit the reimbursement paperwork once purchases are complete.
