Fort Bend County approves $20 million road program, ARPA-funded juvenile training center and other unanimous measures

Fort Bend County Commissioners Court on Feb. 25 voted unanimously, 4–0, to approve several measures including a $20 million road improvement allocation, a $2 million allocation from ARPA revenue replacement funds to design and build a vocational training facility inside a juvenile detention center, acceptance of donated generators for county parks, a shortened transit reservation window, support for an elderly housing project seeking state approval and amendments to the county assault response team to fill vacancies.

The package of actions — each approved by the court without recorded opposition — included budget and policy moves the county says will affect road work in all four precincts, youth services inside the juvenile justice system, transit scheduling and county emergency-preparedness equipment.

The road program approved under agenda item 35a assigns $5,000,000 to each precinct for road improvements, totaling $20,000,000, and cites the county's 2023 mobility authorization as the source of the project authority. The court approved financing for the work through certificates of obligation.
