Resident tells supervisors Modern Manor went days without water; board takes comment under advisement

Deb Duttler, a Modern Manor resident, told the Johnson County Board of Supervisors during public comment that her apartment complex experienced a multi-day water outage that left tenants without water from Sunday until Wednesday.

Duttler said she lives at 67 Modern Way and described the response by the property’s new owners as “shoddy,” saying no alternative water was provided until Wednesday and that management only later informed residents they could seek hotel reimbursement. She told supervisors she has a medical condition that requires daily showering and that she could not front the money for a hotel stay.

The board chair acknowledged Duttler’s remarks and said the board would “take [the] comments under advisement.” No formal action or referral was recorded on the transcript during the meeting.

The comment appeared during the meeting’s public-comment period and was not tied to an agenda item. The board did not announce any immediate follow-up steps during the session.

The board has an established public-comment process; speakers are limited to three minutes and the chair determines whether to take action on non-agenda items.
