Councilor Kaler moved to deny the bids and postpone action to allow the owner time to remove the trailer; Councilor Bullard seconded the motion. The council voted 5-0 in favor of denying the quotes and giving the owner until May 15.
Why it matters: if the landowner completes the removal, the city avoids demolition costs and the complication of re-bidding the work; staff cautioned that, because quotes are time-limited, the city may have to re-solicit bids if the owner does not complete removal by the deadline.
